Plumbing
Technician
Employment type: Full-time
The Plumbing Technician (aka Journeyman level) has 6 or more years’ experience as a senior helper for a plumbing technician and may sometimes be ready to sit for a plumbing licensing exam. Must have experience with residential plumbing and commercial builder plumbing and be highly proficient in at least two of the following phases of plumbing construction: ground rough; top-out; finish and at least knowledgeable of the third. Repairs, water supply, drain cleaning and repair sewer lines, water heater installation, and fixture repair are all pluses.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, fixtures in commercial and residential structures

Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals

Follow building plans and blueprints
-
Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies
-
Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems
-
Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used
Occasionally perform, assist, supervise, and/or train junior technicians with:

Plumbing trade skills
-
Sewer machines (power snakes)
-
Sewer and drain jetting
-
Rigid See Snake camera system (or similar)
-
Roof work possible for vent system cleaning/inspections
Additional Qualifications:
-
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade

Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
-
Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
-
Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper

Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
-
Excellent problem-solving skills
-
Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
