Plumbing Helper 1
Entry Level
Employment type: Full-time
The Plumbing Helper 1 (aka entry level) does not require (though encourages) education or experience. Pluses for Helper 1 include – some plumbing helper experience; allied trade experience such as electrical, HVAC, tiling, or other construction site experience. Attendance at a vocational high school or post-secondary technical school are also a plus and may garner increased starting pay.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Perform remodeling in offices, bathrooms, residential homes and commercial buildings

Installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances (dishwashers, water heaters, stoves, sinks, tubs, toilets)

Measures, cuts, threads, bends pipe to required angels using tools such as pipe-threading machines and pipe cutters

Hangs steel supports from ceiling joists

Tests for leaks in new and repaired systems with compressed air and/or water

Works in various environmental conditions and elements (e.g. various temperatures, confined spaces, heights vary from ladder height to roof top, and sub terrain conditions.)

Assists with construction, soldering, and brazing pipes

Transports/accounts for tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites as needed

Monitors and maintains plumbing tools for safe operating conditions

Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements

Must provide basic tools; company will provide specialized/large tools

Must meet and maintain South Shore Plumbing minimum insurance requirements

Successful completion of a drug screening
